Description

Ajwain or Carom Seeds are an excellent spice for snacks made from chickpea dough such as Pakora. It has a slightly bitter taste and the aroma is reminiscent of thyme. It is also said to be able to promote digestion.

Carom seeds are used in small quantities and are almost always cooked. The best way to cook the seeds is to heat oil or butter (most often ghee) until very hot, and then add the seeds to it to impart the flavor to the oil.

Carom seeds emits similar notes as the green herb. However, the seeds also combines this earthy, mint taste with the bitterness found in oregano. Carom seeds makes a complex and powerful statement.
